Water Damage Mitigation

The first 24–48 hours after a water event decide whether you pay for drying or pay for a rebuild. Fast-dispatch mitigation: extract, set drying equipment, map the affected area, and stop mold before it starts.

Equipment

What we bring to the job

Professional-grade tools matter — they decide whether your space gets surface-cleaned or actually restored. Here's the gear we use on every water damage mitigation job.

LGR Dehumidifiers
Low-Grain Refrigerant dehumidifiers (Phoenix / Dri-Eaz class) pull 70+ pints of water per day from the air — essential for drying structure materials, not just mopping surfaces.
Axial + Centrifugal Air Movers
High-velocity air movers placed in a calculated pattern push moisture out of wet materials into the air, where the dehumidifiers capture it. Typically 1 mover per 10–16 linear feet of wet wall.
Truckmount Extractor
Same hot-water extractor we use for carpet — in restoration mode it pulls hundreds of gallons of standing water from carpet and pad before drying begins.
Thermal Imaging Camera
FLIR-class imager maps moisture INSIDE walls, under tile, and behind cabinets. Surface looks dry, but the cavity behind it is still soaked — thermal sees what eyes can't.
Moisture Meters (Pin + Pinless)
Protimeter-class meters record daily moisture content readings. Drying logs documented — insurance requires this, and we provide it without being asked.
Sub-Floor Drying Wands / Injectidry
For water trapped under hardwood or in wall cavities, specialty systems push warm dry air directly into the cavity — saves hardwood floors and avoids demo when possible.
Process

How we do it

Same six-step process every time, so you know exactly what to expect.

  1. 1
    Emergency dispatch
Same-day response across Greater Boston and the Merrimack Valley. Fast response is what saves the most material.
  2. 2
    Source stop + safety
If the leak is still flowing, we coordinate the shut-off. Power to wet areas cut for safety. Category 2/3 water (gray/black) gets PPE treatment from the start.
  3. 3
    Water extraction
Standing water pulled with truckmount extractor. Wet carpet lifted; ruined pad removed. Wet building materials identified for dry or demo decision.
  4. 4
    Moisture mapping
Thermal imaging + pinless meter readings map the full affected area. We chart every wet wall, baseboard, and ceiling — so drying is complete, not partial.
  5. 5
    Drying chamber
Air movers + LGR dehumidifiers placed to industry-standard calculations. Runs 24/7 with daily moisture readings logged until every material is at dry standard.
  6. 6
    Clearance + report
Moisture readings back to baseline documented. Photo report, drying logs, and insurance-ready scope delivered — so your claim closes smoothly.

FAQ

Questions we get

How fast can you get there?

Same-day across Greater Boston, Essex, Suffolk, and the Merrimack Valley. For active leaks and major floods we dispatch within hours. Call (855) 723-3808 and we confirm the window on the phone.

Will I need to move out?

Most residential jobs you stay in the home — we just isolate and dry affected rooms. Major events (whole-floor flood, sewage backup) may require temporary relocation for safety and odor.

How long does drying take?

Most residential jobs 3–5 days with proper equipment. Hardwood floors and plaster walls take longer. Factors: category of water, materials, ventilation, time elapsed before mitigation started.

Do you work with insurance?

Yes. We document everything — photos, moisture maps, drying logs, scope — in the format your adjuster needs. We can bill insurance directly on approved claims.
